Hizkidantza is a dance between words, sounds and babbling which transports us to the universe of children’s imagination and the processes of language acquisition in childhood.
Through a careful stage game, two characters, Terpsichore (dance) and Euterpe (Music), breathe, explore and experiment with different ways of expression with their body and voice. As beings newly arrived in the world, they interact with the materials, objects and events which occur in their environment, and articulate a non-verbal discourse which transits through moving images full of poetic musicality. A pas de deux in which reality and fantasy come together and dialogue in harmony.
Together, they recreate an expressive universe, prior to the use of language and knowledge of the alphabet, in which words and letters fly fleetingly in a whirlwind of sounds which dance with each other, full of meaning. In which language is perceived as music and is sung and danced with the body.
El Lagarto Baila presents an educational show, which aims to connect directly with the artistic desire of its audience and launch an invitation to enjoy bodily and musical expression as a family.
It was born in 2013, driven by the dance pedagogue, creator and researcher Leire Amonarriz, who seeks to broaden her teaching activity through stage proposals and movement and experimentation workshops.
El Lagarto Baila focus its research on the educational and stimulating qualities of the language of art and dance, placing value on its aesthetic, cultural and psycho-affective components. It is an initiative designed to raise awareness of dance, considering it a fundamental part of culture which should be looked after and fomented. The interdisciplinary relationship between dance, music and the plastic arts is also a source of the choreographic, pedagogic and methodological resources which are of special interest for this initiative that has carried out the following productions and tours:
