De boca a boca, it's a body inhabiting the womb-voice channel. It is a journey from the inside out that finds calm from the outside in, an intimate place to return to the origin.
"This is a labour that is in continuous transformation, like me, the wrinkles in my grandmother's hands, my mother's gaze.
I have named my cycle a timeline and I have stayed to converse with the memories of my uterus.
I have written words that are not mine, but that could be me vocalising them too.
I have read, watched, cradled my needs and shouted, whispered and sung what my body was trying to move.
Here is a token of love for uncertainty, an umbilical cord to my ancestors, an invitation to be reborn".
Maddi Fuente Ubani decided to create as a solo performer shortly after graduating. Her first needs already appeared when she created her graduation piece, but she began alone in a mentorship in Amsterdam-Noord, where she began to create and search from the perspective of a woman. She worked for other creators, on projects as a performer, but after her experiences and out of a need of her own, she decided to focus her career on working with female creators and collaborators and as a collective, she moved between Berlin and the Basque Country and this gave her the impetus to create her first work as a solo piece, in 2023. She is in the process of training as a Doula, a decision that has a direct connection with her work as a performer and facilitator. As a company, there is a direct umbilical cord to her work as a facilitator, since her practice is directly connected to her way of creating and her interests in the stage: the physical work, the search for a voice and the work with images and states.
