Who told this story for the first time?
Which voices repeated the echo until it became legend?
De Musas is a familiar story,
told from a different perspective.
The show reviews the myth of Medusa, the famous Greek Gorgon, questioning the notion of guilt and leaving aside the horrible monsters to make way for a story without prejudice or criminalisation and a protagonist with whom it is easy to identify.
By means of an inverted chronology, we are allowed to discover the contradictory experiences and feelings of a woman punished by gods and men.
A story which repeats itself in different places with different faces.
A song which, in a loop, talks about the past, the present and - just maybe - the future.
How many Medusas have you given a helping hand to?
How many Poseidons have you stopped?
How many Athenas have you tried to understand?
How much do we really know about the stories of everyone around us?
Dance & Music Creation (DMC) was born out of a meeting between people who are passionate about music and performing arts.
Founded in 2019, the mission of this non-profit organisation is to help and promote artistic creation in Switzerland and abroad. The trajectory of the association –and now dance company—"Dance & Music Creation”, has stood out thanks to significant collaborations and the holding of prominent events in the artistic world.
In 2019, the association co-produced the piece, "An Ordinary Day“, by the PopKorn company, chosen between 80 companies, for the national Swiss tour of the “Fête de la Danse”.
In 2020, it organised the street art festival, “En Plein Art”, in the city of Neuchâtel, making a commitment to cultural promotion during the pandemic.
A transition towards its own production started with the ”10 Mois 10 Concert” tour in 2022, in collaboration with the PopKorn company, a project which was awarded the “Prix Regional Neuchâtel” prize for best sociocultural project in the region.
In 2022-2023, Dance Music Creation fully produced and presented the piece, "De Musas”, directed by Paula Jimenez Calvo, underscoring the artistic vision of the company and its dedication to integrating musical creation adapted for dance. Since its beginnings as an association, Dance & Music Creation has maintained a high artistic standard, fusing the creativity of multidisciplinary musicians and versatile dancers. The company is committed to dance, music, and other types of performing arts such as theatrical improvisation and circus, leaving its mark on each stage and increasingly establishing itself as a reference in artistic expression and stage creativity.
