'Harreman’ is a show by the Zirkozaurre company which brings together the circus with Basque traditional music, two apparently different worlds but which actually share many things in common.
‘Harreman’ proposes a journey through roots, through identity. A journey in which circus techniques are reinvented to embrace our most recognisable melodies and fill the scene with emotion and complicity.
The show is about to begin and we want to surprise you. Our musicians tune the chords of their entertaining repertoire. The rest of the team mentally reviews each of the choreographies. It’s the turn of juggling: balls and clubs. Of the dances: Basque and contemporary. Of collectively enjoying this unique proposition.
‘Harreman’. Hartu eta eman. Take and give. Interact, interact with one another.
Look back to memory and at the same time look forward, letting ourselves go.
Zirkozaurre is a company which emerged out of the circus centre of the same name as a re-flection and staging of the results of research processes and perfecting the technique and representation that were developed in the space.
Zirkozaurre emerged in 2011 as a commit-ment to the professionalization of the circus sector and the first productions of the company were released in 2014. Specifically, the shows were ‘Vademekun’, ‘Morse’ and ‘Akelarre’.
On the basis of those two productions, Zirkozaurre began to develop laboratory spaces which had room for artists of different backgrounds and careers so that they could share knowledge and techniques and synergies were established which in turn gave rise to new creations. That was the case of the productions released in 2015 and 2016: ‘El punto de la I’ and ‘Eten(H)ari’.
In recent years, Zirkozaurre has been committed to breaking interdiscipli-nary boundaries and developing projects which explore new forms of dramaturgy and stag-ing which, on the basis of movement, build relationship bridges amongst the living arts in the search for new languages and new forms of storytelling.
In that framework, in 2019 the show ‘Tiempo’ emerged, a creation which unites dance and the circus. Most recently, ‘Kobr3’, with synchronised and choreographed juggling. And the latest production is 'Harreman', in a large format, with circus, dance and Basque traditional music.
