Geure(R)a is a show which suggests a dialogue between nature, poetry, dance and video mapping. Juantxo Zeberio’s music, Toti Martínez de Lezea’s verses and Paco Gramaje’s animated projections enrich the suspended choreography performed by three dancers.
Its poetic thread, whose dramaturgy questions and transports the memory of women throughout history, ends with a current question: who are the witches today and who are the oppressors?
Geure(R)a was awarded a "Special Mention" by the Jury of the Umore Azoka and is in the catalogue of recommended works by the Basque Theatre Network, SAREA, and ARTEKALE.
Fusion of vertical dance and contemporary creation with Basque culture and identity. Nature as support for movement.
With the intention of globally sharing artistic interventions carried out in nature, Janire Etxabe founded the Harrobi Dantza Bertikala company in Dima (Bizkaia), in 2020.
It has performed the shows DENDU, HARRIA HERRIA and GEURE(R)A. All three are in catalogues of works recommended by SAREA (the Basque Theatre Network), ADDE (the Association of Dance Professionals in the Basque Country) and ARTEKALE (the Association of Street Arts in the Basque Country).
HARRIA HERRIA was a finalist for the MAX Prizes 2022 in the category of Best Street Performance. The day of its premiere, GEURE(R)A received an Honourable Mention from the Jury of the Umore Azoka in Leioa in May 2023.
The company has taken part in, amongst others, festivals such as Pedra Viva (Menorca), TAC (Valladolid), Fira Manresa, CAFCA (Oviedo), DFeria (Donostia / San Sebastián), Kalealdia (Bilbao) and Kaldearte (Vitoria / Gasteiz). It has also collaborated with artists of renown like OREKA TX, Silberius de Ura, Natxo Arantegui and Juantxo Zeberio.
Likewise, it supports a pedagogical and public awareness project structured around four chords: continuous training with the company dancers; intensive training for professionals with top-level choreographers; danced talks; projections, and mountain hiking trips as unforgettable experiences in which to share spaces of choreographic creation.
Harrobi Dantza Bertikala also performs site-specific shows in museums, natural spaces and emblematic buildings, and develops a la carte stage proposals for events and celebrations. It is currently working on the research process for a new production, which will premiere in 2025, the year of its fifth anniversary.
