Fuga! is Pantxika Telleria’s new creation: a choreographic trio which depicts the intertwining of bodies in order to give again imagination to the system of Basque jumps, the mutxiko. To the sound of Romain Baudoin live music, three bodies delve and interweave, compose and decompose till infinity.
This choreographic piece is the culmination of a three-year artistic research carried out by Pantxika Telleria on the system of Basque jumps. Cyril Geeroms and Yutaka Takei, two seasoned contemporary dancers who were the pillars of the company at its beginning, have coincided in facing once again the specificity of Pantxika Telleria’s gestures. With the gifted Basque dancer Oihan Indart, a catalyst of the choreographer’s approach, they find the mooring which allows them to get back on their feet after having drifted in their search for the “feeling of the wave”. Three, then two dependent bodies, now three again, make up common scoring times in an ever-changing universe. Time is ticking in Fuga!
The Torrom Borrom musical accompaniement, the set design, the lighting and the wardrobe echo this bewildering imagination. Fuga! reveals little by little its secrets, slowly casting a spell on spectators.
Originally from Saint-Jean-de-Luz, Pantxika Telleria was immersed in the world of Basque traditional dance from an early age. As an adolescent, she entered the National Conservatory of Music and Dance in Paris. Some years later, she obtained her state diploma as a Dance Teacher at the CAFEDEM in Bordeaux, later creating EliralE in 2001.
Twenty years later, the Company has a wide range of creations for children, such as Ninika and Ka Dira, as well as original choreographic pieces for all ages, like Artha, O! and, currently, Fuga! Through its reflections and pioneering initiatives, EliralE is more than a dance company; it has become an actor that is culturally committed to the inhabitants of its territory in the Basque Country.
Today, the objectives of the structure approved by the DRAC (Ministry of Culture) are based on and defined by two pillars: creation/diffusion and experimental intervention. Pantxika T’s fields of research are centred on choreographic art and the exploration of corporality, with the aim of enhancing humanity and restoring its confidence.
